Speaking about his return to Rodney Parade, Day said: “It feels great to be back after the time that I spent with the club before.
“I have enjoyed some of the best memories of my career here and I’m looking forward to creating some more now over the next few seasons.
Cambridge United Sign James Brophy From Leyton Orient
After 149 appearances for Leyton Orient, James Brophy has joined Cambridge United. The 26-year-old was offered a new contract by the O’s, but he has decided to make the move back up to League One. Brophy will replace outgoing Cambridge player Luke Hannant, who has joined Colchester United.
On his move to the Abbey Stadium, Brophy said to the Cambridge United website: “There were two key factors – I wanted to come back into League One and I wanted to find a place and a Gaffer that I can relate to and that I felt he had trust me in and I had trust in him.
“I am really excited now and can’t wait to get started.”
He is the second player to join the newly-promoted, joining Lloyd Jones in making the move.
Ashley Fletcher Moves to Watford on Free from Middlesbrough
Watford are already building their new squad ahead of a return to the Premier League and have former Tottenham left-back Danny Rose in their sights. They have added striker Fletcher to their ranks on a free transfer to add to the signings of Imran Louza, Mattie Pollock and Kwadwo Baah.
Fletcher is no stranger to the Premier League, having made 16 appearances for West Ham United during the 2016/17.
Leeds United Forward Joins Fleetwood Town on Season-Long Loan
20-year-old Ryan Edmondson joined Leeds United in 2017 from York City, but has since only made two first-team appearances for the club. As a result, he will now seek more playing time at Fleetwood Town after two loan spells last season at Aberdeen and Northampton Town.
Edmondson has played at U19 level for England and becomes Fleetwood’s third signing of the summer transfer window.
