Former Tottenham Hotspur Left-Back Danny Rose Set for Watford Move

Danny Rose

Former Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose is reported to be moving to Watford after his contract with the North London club came to an end. According to Adam Leventhal of The Athletic, a deal has been agreed in principle for him to join on a free transfer.

Danny Rose to Join Watford

Free Transfer Reported for Rose

Rose would be joining Watford on a free transfer, who are back in the Premier League following promotion from the Championship at the close of the 2020/21 season. Adam Masina and Achraf Lazaar were rotated at left-back, but with Lazaar set to leave Vicarage Road at the end of his contract, it seems Rose will be joining as competition ahead of the new season.

While Rose is now 30-years old, he has plenty of Premier League experience and that will be vital to Watford’s attempts to stay in the Premier League.

Rose’s Spurs Career

Rose was part of the Spurs team that ultimately lost out in the Champions League final to Liverpool in 2019. However, he then lost his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, then when Jose Mourinho replaced the Argentine at Spurs, the 30-year-old’s career seemed to come to a premature halt.

He spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Newcastle United under Steve Bruce. When he returned to Spurs, he trained with the reserves at Hotspur Way, as well as playing a few times for the U23 squad.

Rose has also enjoyed success on the international stage, playing 29 times for England. He featured at the 2016 European Championship and 2018 World Cup when England reached the semi-final stage of the competition before losing out to Croatia.

The 30-year-old will be hoping to resurrect his career at Vicarage Road, and he will certainly have plenty to offer providing he can get match-fit.
