Tottenham End Antonio Conte Chase After Difference in Visions

Antonio Conte Had Reluctance to Work With Youth

Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard revealed that Spurs have ended their pursuit of appointing Conte as the clubs new manager. The report states that Tottenham have not made an offer to the former Chelsea boss amid concerns over a reluctance to work with the youth players which is something that chairman Daniel Levy is keen for the next manager to embrace.

Salary and Ambition

Fabrizio Romano tweeted that there were also differences over the salary on offer as well as Conte’s concerns over joining a club that he sees as not being ready to win trophies now:

Conte has recently left Inter Milan after winning the Serie A title and won the Premier League and FA Cup in his two years at London rivals Chelsea. It seems he is not looking for a long term project, instead preferring a role where success is already close to being achieved.

Levy Running Out of Time and Options

Levy had been working hard to try and bring former manager Mauricio Pochettino back to Spurs but his current club Paris Saint Germain have dug their heels in and that avenue now appears to have been closed off.

With Conte’s talks with Spurs collapsing, Levy will need to seek other options. Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag has been linked with the vacant position as well as Graham Potter of Brighton and Hove Albion but managers looking on may not be attracted to being a third choice option and Levy’s next move may well be the most important he has had to make in his 20 years at the club.
