Former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray has announced his retirement from football on Twitter.

The 37-year-old ended his career as a Nottingham Forest player, joining the Reds for the second half of this season.
Murray signed a six-month contract to reunite with Chris Hughton – his former boss at Brighton – and scored twice in 16 appearances for the Midlanders.
The experienced forward’s contract was due to expire at the end of this month and he has decided now is the time to hang up his boots.
In a heartfelt statement shared on Twitter, Murray said: “To all the clubs, players and fans that I’ve come across on this life-changing journey… THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a pleasure, hanging them up. 31/05/2021”
Experienced Career Ends in the Midlands
Murray’s 19-year senior career began in the northeast with the likes of Barrow and Carlisle United. Loan spells to Stockport County and Rochdale followed, with the Maryport-born striker linking up with the latter permanently in 2007.
He scored 21 goals in 42 appearances for Rochdale and subsequently joined Brighton & Hove Albion, where he scored 54 goals in 118 appearances in his first spell on the coast.
His impressive goal record continued during a four-year spell with Crystal Palace (44 goals in 112 appearances) before he linked up with Reading and Bournemouth.
Murray returned to Brighton initially on loan from Bournemouth in 2016 with 15 goals in 26 appearances, and he joined the Seagulls permanently in 2017 and went on to score 34 times in 115 matches.
Towards the end of his career Murray struggled to hit the back of the net quite so regularly and, after a difficult loan spell at Watford, his playing time came to an end at Nottingham Forest.
He ends his career with an incredible yield of 217 goals in 623 and has had an impact at each of the clubs he has featured for.
