Burnley winger Robbie Brady will depart the club in the summer, the club have confirmed. The 29-year-old became the Clarets’ record signing when he joined from Norwich City in 2017.

Injury-Laden Period for the Republic of Ireland International
Having come through the ranks at Manchester United, Robbie Brady impressed during four seasons at Hull City and 18-months at Norwich City.
His arrival at Burnley promoted Clarets fans to get excited, particularly as the winger broke the club’s transfer record in a deal reportedly worth £13 million.
However, injury has severely hampered his progress at Turf Moor. The winger was a valuable player as the Clarets finished the 2017/18 Premier League campaign in seventh spot, thus qualifying for Europe, but a serious knee injury ruled him out for much of the following campaign.
After almost one year on the sidelines, Brady returned to action and once again showed his importance to the team. However, two separate spells out with broken ribs once again limited his game time at the club.
Last season, Brady turned out a total of 21 times but an Achilles tendon problem saw the Republic of Ireland international spend yet more time off the pitch.
His time at Turf Moor ends having managed just 87 appearances in four and a half years.
What Was Said
Speaking to the club’s official website, Brady said: I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I’ve loved every minute and I’m really going to miss the lads.
“They have been a massive part of my career and I’ve made friends who I will hold onto for a long, long time. In that respect, everything has been great.
“Unfortunately, I picked up a quite significant injury when I felt like I was almost reaching the peak of my game in that season where we finished in the European spots.
“We’d had a really good spell and picked up a lot of points but then I picked up the injury and that was me for almost a year. I found it difficult with the magnitude of the injury getting back.
“It was a long road and a hard road for me, personally, but I managed to get there.”
Burnley boss Sean Dyche added: “Robbie has been incredibly unfortunate with injuries.
“In his strongest spell for us – when he was really flying and helped us qualify for Europe – he got a really serious injury.
“He came back from that and one or two other injuries to play his part in a strong time for the club.
“When he has played, he has been a credit to himself and a good servant to us as a club and we wish him well in the future.”
What the Future May Hold for Robbie Brady
Despite his injury setbacks, there is no denying the capability of the 29-year-old. While several Premier League clubs may still be interested in his services, a move to the Championship may be more likely.
Capped 57 times by the Republic of Ireland, Brady will bring some valuable experience to whichever club he ends up at.
