Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 33 Picks

Quick Tips

Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Southampton and Fulham do not have a match this gameweek. However, Spurs will play against the bottom side Sheffield United in gameweek 34 so one might just want to keep hold of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Goalkeepers

Robert Sánchez has kept back-to-back clean sheets for Brighton & Hove Albion. This week, the Seagulls have a match they will be targeting all three points against Sheffield United. With the Blades being rather toothless in front of goal all season, a clean sheet is definitely possible.

Emiliano Martínez has a tricky fixture this week against the resurgent West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies have to win to keep their survival hopes alive. He might have opportunities to make a few saves and, if he can keep a clean sheet then, a big score is definitely possible.

Kasper Schmeichel has a good chance to keep a clean sheet this week. Crystal Palace have scored a goal in each of their last four matches, however, and will prove to be a tough test.

Defenders

To take advantage of Brighton’s strong chance of a clean sheet this week, one can look at bringing in one of their defenders. Joël Veltman and Lewis Dunk are the best options. Ben White is suspended. Dan Burn is also a decent option on the cheap.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is in good form. He got an assist last week and was involved in Liverpool’s attacking play a lot. One should try to bring him in for the remainder of the season. The fixture this week has potential for both defensive and offensive returns.  Nathaniel Phillips is a doubt.
Leicester City defenders should be considered this week, especially those that have attacking potential. Timothy Castagne and Ricardo Perreira are the ones to target although their high prices create problems in fitting one of them in.

Midfielders

Prior to getting benched in the last game, Salah had scored in two successive games. That should mean he could start this Saturday. He is still missing a lot of chances but he should get enough at home to Newcastle United. The Magpies have improved in recent weeks but one has to fancy Liverpool here. Salah is probably the best captaincy choice this week on paper. Sadio Mané and Diogo Jota are also good options.

Bruno Fernandes has scored only once in the last five matches. In the previous match against Burnley, he played well but did not get the FPL points his performance probably merited. Fernandes had a great match against Leeds earlier in the season, scoring a mammoth 17 points. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s men perform much better defensively these days and it won’t be easy for the Red Devils at Elland Road.

Mason Greenwood has scored four goals in the last three matches. His starting status remains uncertain but even off the bench, he could do some damage.

Despite having a good fixture, none of the Leicester midfielders seem worthwhile options. James Maddison should be considered but will he start?

Those looking for a differential could consider Matheus Pereira. The Baggies need the points and his performance will be key. As a penalty-taker, he could go huge if they get a penalty.

Strikers

Kelechi Iheanacho is enjoying the form of his life at the moment. He has scored seven goals and 50 FPL points in the last five matches in the Premier League. One cannot ignore that form. Besides, he is facing a team in Crystal Palace that has nothing to play for this season. With the Foxes needing the three points to continue their charge for a spot in next season’s Champions League, this is a match Iheanacho could thrive in. One has to consider him strongly for the armband this week. Jamie Vardy has been quiet in recent weeks but he can do well this round as well.

Not many great striker options are around this week. Ollie Watkins could be considered, especially for those looking for a replacement for Lacazette. If one fancies West Brom, Mbaye Diagne is also a decent shout.
