Brahim Diaz is performing above most expectations for AC Milan this season. The Real Madrid loanee arrived on a dry loan before the season, and now, according to Goal.com, Milan want him permanently. The deal, however, won’t be easy as Diaz is a young, emerging talent who can cement himself into most teams across Europe.

Diaz isn’t a consistent starter for Milan, but his versatility has allowed him to make plenty of appearances. A natural attacking midfielder, he sits behind Hakan Calhanoglu in Milan’s pecking order. This is no fault of his own, as Calhanoglu is one of the most important members of the squad.
The Spaniard can also play on the wing. Milan’s starting wingers are Ante Rebic and Alexis Saelemaekers, but Diaz causes competition in that department. He has a different skill set than the others too, as he brings flair and finesse along with his game.
In 15 Serie A appearances, but less than 700 minutes on the pitch, Diaz has one goal and three assists. These numbers don’t pop out as fantastic, but he’s been a pleasure off the bench and has solidified a few victories as well.
In 307 minutes from six Europa League matches, Diaz has scored three goals. This shows his true worth – he can contribute greatly when playing more often. Milan’s line-up flexibility in Europe has allowed Diaz to start a few matches and show his attacking prowess.
Future with Milan
The report says Real Madrid would consider an offer around the €30 million range. That’s quite the price for a bench option. With that being said, Diaz has the potential to force his way into the starting line-up.
Calhanoglu is a guarantee at attacking midfielder, barring a departure. He’s excellent in that position and the backbone of Milan’s attack. Diaz, however, has a shot at taking over the right-wing position. Saelemaekers is a solid player – he has high stamina, can cross the ball effectively, and always tracks back on defence, but seems to lack what it takes to go to the next level. Diaz can do this.
In an ideal scenario for Milan, Diaz is redeemed and finds his way into the starting right-wing role with a very solid back-up in Saelemaekers.
