19 Games is the End of the Road for Paul Tisdale
Bristol Rovers are currently just one place above the League One drop zone after failing to win any games from the last ten. Tisdale had only been appointed the manager 19 games ago but Rovers have decided that a change is needed if they are to have the best chance of avoiding relegation to League Two.
Tisdale’s final game in charge was the 1-0 reverse to Oxford United on Tuesday. Also leaving the club is Mel Gwinnett who had been brought in to support Tisdale with football operations but he is now also job hunting.
Improved Form Didn’t Last Long
After a less than impressive start to the season, Tisdale did seem to have turned the corner with Bristol Rovers beating AFC Wimbledon, Plymouth Argyle and Blackpool to seemingly take any relegations fears that had been hanging around the club away.
The subsequent run of form has been alarming and just two points from eight has seen the team plummet down the table and deep into a deep relegation battle with just over half of the season now gone.
Rovers Appoint Temporary Management in Place Following Tisdale Sacking
Kevin Maher and Jack Mesure will be part of the temporary coaching staff with Director of football Tommy Widdrington taking on the role of caretaker manager until a replacement can be found, a club spokesman told the club’s official website: “Tommy Widdrington will be taking charge of the first-team on a temporary basis, while the club undertakes the process of appointing a new Manager. Tommy will be assisted by Jack Mesure and Kevin Maher.”
