Gillingham have signed midfielder James Morton on loan from Bristol City for the rest of the season.
The midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan at Grimsby Town but returned to the Robins at the start of the transfer window.
Morton is no stranger to a loan as he continues to enhance his football education and get regular opportunities.

Morton Featured for the Mariners Seven Times in League Two
The talented midfielder struggled for game time in League Two, featuring just seven times for Grimsby. He started just four times and ultimately, his loan on Humberside didn’t work out.
He moves to Gillingham hoping for more game time and the chance to help Gillingham get back into the promotion race. Its been a transitional month for the Gills, with several players departing and arriving. The midfield has been hit hard with Josh Eccles and Scott Robertson leaving the club to return to their parent clubs.
New signings have arrived in that area and Morton is the latest recruit for the Gills midfield. He is a tidy player who does the basics well. He covers both boxes and offers a real presence.
Speaking to the Gillingham website about Morton’s arrival, manager Steve Evans said: “James is a very talented lad. He has signed a four-year contract at Bristol City so it demonstrates how highly thought of he is there.
“The lad has a brilliant left foot and gives us some wonderful balance in the middle of the pitch.
“Our supporters will love this lad and I am delighted he has chosen us over two clubs currently in the top six of League One.”
Zech Medley Has Cut Short his Loan Spell and Jacob Mellis Has Joined Southend United
As well as announcing James Morton’s arrival, Gillingham have also announced the departure of centre back, Zech Medley.
The defender cut short his loan spell from Arsenal and has subsequently been loaned to Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock.
Medley isn’t the only departure confirmed by the Gills with midfielder Jacob Mellis joining League Two strugglers Southend United. He joined the Essex side on a permanent deal, signing a contract until the end of the season.
