Valencia Sign Patrick Cutrone

Cutrone Arrives at Valencia

Valencia have signed forward Patrice Cutrone on a loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers for the second half of the season. The Spanish side are having something of a striker shortage and, in their eyes, Cutrone fits the bill.

Los Che are going through a difficult season in La Liga and currently find themselves in 14th place – just four points above the relegation zone.

Patrick Cutrone Shines for AC Milan

The striker first broke onto the scene with AC Milan in 2017. The 19-year-old would complete an impressive first full season during the 2017/18 campaign. He scored ten goals in 28 appearances in Serie A with six goals in 13 European games. His form earnt him a call up to the Italian national side.

Nomadic 18-Months for Striker

However, his time in Milan came to an end due to limited opportunities. Therefore in July 2019, he eventually signed for Wolves on a four-year deal.

Yet, the Italian never fully got to grips with the rigours of Premier League football. He registered just two goals between last season and this season.

This was the catalyst for the start of his nomadic spell. The Italian would return to Serie A and Fiorentina, which was originally an 18-month loan deal. He marginally improved back in his homeland with four goals in 19 games last season. But overall he failed to find his spark and true form from his San Siro days.

Fast forward to this season and Cutrone had been also on loan to Fiorentina during the first half of the season. But he failed to score in 11 matches.

However, he would gain a Premier League reprieve. His loan deal was cut short by Wolves and was recalled due to the injury of Raúl Jiménez.

Despite featuring for the team in two matches during January, the arrival of Willan José from Real Sociedad meant his game time would be limited.

La Liga Next Stop

Now, he arrives to Valencia with something to prove. Known for his aerial ability, good sense of positioning, his ability to read the game and work rate, Cutrone will be aiming to find himself on Spanish shores.

He is a versatile striker – able to play as the lone target man. He can also complement another attacking teammate. Be it as a centre forward or deployed as a second striker.

This will be the third different league of the striker’s career. It could prove to be a defining crossroads for Cutrone.
