Jonathan Hogg: Huddersfield Town Midfielder Handed New Deal

Hogg contract

Huddersfield Town has announced that one of their key players will be staying at the club, with Jonathan Hogg signing a new contract which will keep him in West Yorkshire until at least 2023.

The 32-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of the current season, so the Terriers moved to secure him for the future. The Championship side added that they now have an option of an extra year.

He has been a regular fixture in Carlos Corberan’s side, who has only failed to name Hogg in his starting XI on four occasions in the league this season.

Bromby Delighted at New Hogg Contract

Huddersfield’s head of football operations Leigh Bromby is quoted on the club’s website, where he expressed his delight at the news.

He said: “It’s great news that Jonathan’s time at Huddersfield Town will continue, and that we have come to an agreement that works both for him and the Club.

“‘Hoggy’ has been a magnificent player for this Club over the past seven and a half years and played a huge role in the journey that Huddersfield Town took to the Premier League.”

He added that Hogg “embodies the qualities that we want from our players.

Vital for Terriers’ Play-off Push?

Huddersfield currently sit ten points off the Championship play-offs, so news of the Hogg contract will be a welcome boost for the club. He was a key part of the last side to reach the Premier League, and his experience will be invaluable for their attempts to repeat that feat.

‘The General’ has made more than 250 appearances for the Terriers in all competitions.

That experience will not only help his team-mates on the pitch, but Corberan added it will also be invaluable for the young academy players hoping to come through in West Yorkshire.

The manager said: “As a coach, it’s a pleasure to work with players who give everything they have. Jonathan is a perfect example to any of our Academy players who train or play with the first team.”
