Paul Cook has turned down the chance to take charge at Sheffield Wednesday and it means that the Owls are back to the drawing board, according to The Athletic.

Wednesday Want a New Manager
Sheffield Wednesday are currently on the lookout for a new boss, with the club having already sacked two managers in the last year.
Both Garry Monk and Tony Pulis have been handed the reins at the club in recent times and neither were deemed worthy of staying at the club.
Now, they have instead turned to Paul Cook, but the former Wigan Athletic boss has reportedly turned the chance to manage them down.
Keen for a Better Deal
Cook reportedly down the club because the Owls were only prepared to offer the manager a short-term deal – they only wanted Cook as boss until the end of the season. However, he was not impressed with that and would prefer his next role to be a long-term one.
With the club unwilling to appoint the manager on a longer basis, Cook has rejected them and the Owls will now have to look elsewhere for their next managerial candidate.
Owls to Look Elsewhere After Paul Cook Rejection
Sheffield Wednesday are not the most attractive proposition for any managers at the moment. They are currently 23rd in the Championship table and are six points off safety.
It’s fairly impressive considering Wednesday started the season in the minus points, having been handed a points deduction.
However, they have been unable to escape the relegation zone and are desperate to not drop down to the third tier of English football. As a result, they want someone to come in and turn it around for them – and hopefully keep them in the Championship ahead of next season.
However, it won’t be Paul Cook, and if they want a short-term manager until the end of the season, the club will have to look elsewhere for one.
