Adams Brings Plenty of Experience Including Four Promotions
A product of the Bury academy, Adams returns to the North West after a terrific second spell at Northampton. He was instrumental in helping Keith Curle’s side win last season’s League Two play-offs.
That was his fourth promotion as a player having helped Leicester City return to the Championship in 2009. He was also part of Chris Wilder’s title-winning Northampton side which dominated League Two in 2015. Adams also helped his boyhood club Bury to promotion under Ryan Lowe in 2019.
He is a very talented midfielder at this level. Adams can score goals but he brings creativity in abundance. He is also a leader and was Northampton’s captain under Curle before choosing to leave the club. Adams has amassed over 600 career appearances and is hoping to continue that at Oldham.
Speaking to the Oldham website about his move, Adams said: “I’m really glad to be here and it’s a really good opportunity to make my mark at a club I know a lot about after coming up against Oldham a number of times.
“I’m a passionate player who still has a lot to give. I’ve settled in well already and I’m raring to go after my first training session this afternoon.”
Adams is available to make his Oldham debut against Newport County.
Harry Kewell Excited to See New Signing in Action
Manager Harry Kewell is thrilled with his latest recruit.
He added: “He’s a player I really admire and has been a target of mine for a while.
“He’ll add that experience to my team and comes here with back-to-back promotions from this league so knows what it takes to fight at the right end of the table.
“I’m really excited to see what he can do in an Oldham shirt and is a player who can play in a number of different positions, he’s a great addition all-round.”
