According to Christian Falk, Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil will join Turkish club Fenerbahce if both clubs can agree who pays what of his wages. Ozil is reportedly unwilling to take a wage cut, and, if both clubs cannot agree on a percentage, he will stay at Arsenal until the summer.
The former Real Madrid man has previously stated his desire to play for Fenerbahce, taking to Twitter to say: “I definitely will. There are two countries I want to play football in before I retire: Turkey and USA. If I went to Turkey, I could only go to Fenerbahce.”

Potential for a Fresh Start for Ozil
The opportunity to finally leave what began as a dream before becoming a nightmare at Arsenal has seemingly presented itself to Mesut Ozil. And it is one he must take.
The German is still perfectly capable of producing on the biggest of stages around Europe, but a move to Turkish football looks to be on the cards.
If done this month, the deal will rely on the negotiations over wages between Fenerbahce and Arsenal- who will lose Ozil for free in the summer.
Mikel Arteta Making Room
With the departure of Sokratis also likely, Mikel Arteta’s clearout looks to have begun. The Spaniard is likely making room for fresh, younger, talent to take the club into the future alongside the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
With Ozil’s exit happening either way, whether it be this month or January, a creative midfielder may be on the cards. Although, it must be said, Emile Smith Rowe’s growing influence for the Gunners may see the Englishman retain his place in the side, and force Arsenal to strengthen elsewhere.
They could certainly do with reinforcements and the reported imminent departures will free up room for exactly that.
