Preston North End have finally had a bid accepted for Ben Whiteman, according to reports.

Several Clubs Are Keen to Sign the Midfielder
Preston are one of several teams all interested in the Doncaster Rovers man, with all of them desperate to seal a deal for him this month.
So far, no bids have been accepted for the midfielder but it appears that now a deal to take the player to the Championship with the news that the Lilywhites have had a bid accepted.
Whiteman will now be able to enter talks with the club and with the player believed to already very interested in a move to Deepdale, a move could soon be completed.
Player is Experienced at League One and Two Level
The 24-year old already has 164 games of Football League experience under his belt during spells at Sheffield United, Mansfield Town and Doncaster. Most of his playing career has been spent in League One, but he also impressed massively for Mansfield during his spell in League Two.
He’s never been tested at Championship level thus far, but he’s regularly impressed in the third tier of English football. This season for Doncaster, he has already featured 18 times with nine goal contributions along the way.
In fact, it’s the highest number of contributions from Whiteman to date, showing that he is only continuing to improve as a player.
Bid for Ben Whiteman From Preston is Believed to be a Club Record Fee
As for the bid, it could be a fee of over £1.5 million – a large expenditure for a club like Preston, who are still waiting to break their long-standing transfer record which they originally broke when they signed David Healy back in 2001 (that fee was also believed to be £1.5 million). North End have already had a bid for this fee rejected, so it would have to be a higher bid, with another report backing this by saying it isn’t £1.5 million.
It means that if Whiteman does complete a deal for this amount, it will be the most the club have paid for a player in 19 years – showing that North End certainly do mean business this transfer window.
