Manchester United boss Ole Gunner Solksjaer has confirmed that Timothy Fosu-Mensah has an uncertain future with the club.
Timothy Fosu-Mensah Has Uncertain Manchester United Future
Only Made a Handful of Manchester United Starts
The Englishman has only made six starts for the Red Devils after coming up through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.
In pursuit of first-team football, the player may have to leave the club to get the action that he wants – and now boss Ole Gunner Solksjaer has confirmed that this is a plausible possibility.
The Man United manager said: “I’m not sure if Tim is going to stay or if he’s going to take an option now. He’s not played enough. He’s been allowed to speak to clubs with a view to leaving now in January.
”He’s now at the stage where he needs to go and play again.”
Timothy Fosu-Mensah Played More on Loan Than at Red Devils
The 23-year old has found most of his playing time has come away from Old Trafford. In spells with both Crystal Palace and Fulham he played in games a lot more frequently, appearing 33 times in total.
Now it looks like any move away from the Red Devils will be on a more permanent basis, rather than a short-term one.
Fosu-Mensah, who can play in both defence and midfield, has risen through the ranks at United; many fans expected him to continue to grow and flourish at the club, before eventually nailing down a first-team spot.
Player Is Low in the Club’s Pecking Order
However, Fosu-Mensah is now 23-years-old with several other players above him in the pecking order. With no signs of more regular game-time, he is likely to instead try and fulfill his potential at a different club.
Originally making his United debut at just 17-years old, Timothy Fosu-Mensah has only gone on to make just 16 appearances for the club with just one assist along the way.
At times, he has also been confined to playing for the club’s reserve side.
Now though, the player has the opportunity to secure a move away either now or in the summer and has his manager’s blessing to do so.
