REPORT: Felipe Anderson Set to be Recalled by West Ham United From Loan Spell at FC Porto

West Ham United are considering recalling Felipe Anderson from his loan at FC Porto, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Brazilian winger only joined Porto in the summer window but has barely featured for the Portuguese side. He is deemed surplus to requirements at West Ham.

According to Romano, West Ham are considering recalling him and are looking for another club to take the Brazilian on during the January transfer window.

Anderson Has Played Just Eight Times for Porto

The Brazilian joined Porto on a season-long loan in the summer but he has struggled to make an impact. Anderson has featured just eight times since joining the club.

His move to Portugal simply hasn’t worked out. Anderson hasn’t started a single league game, featuring just twice in the Primeira Division. Overall, in his eight matches, Anderson failed to score but did manage two assists –  both of those coming in the Portuguese League Cup.

The Brazilian has plenty of quality but has struggled to find consistency since leaving Lazio, which is where he made his name. He endured an indifferent time in his two full seasons at West Ham before his loan to Portugal. Injuries and loss of confidence have hampered his time in London and ultimately a new challenge in Portugal hasn’t benefitted either party involved.

West Ham Set to Assess All the Options Available

With Anderson set to be recalled, West Ham will now assess what to do with the Brazilian playmaker. They could opt to keep him at the London Stadium as he made two appearances before being shipped out to Portugal. He would bring further pace and creativity to an improving West Ham team.

However, the more likely option is finding another club to take Anderson on. He is on big wages so clubs interested are likely to ask West Ham for a fair split. It is unknown at this stage if other clubs are interested but it seems Anderson’s days in Portugal are coming to an end.
