The Welshman Was Forced off in Spurs’ Carabao Cup Win Over Stoke Last Week
Gareth Bale has struggled to get a good run together since returning to North London, and his progress has received another setback with news of yet another injury.
The Spurs forward scored in last week’s Carabao Cup quarter-final win at Stoke City before being substituted at half-time. He then missed the side’s 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
He joins a list of recent forward injuries at Tottenham. Fellow summer signing Carlos Vinicius as well as Lucas Moura also missed the clash against Wolves.

When asked about the extent of the injury, the Spurs boss said: “I wouldn’t say it was serious but I’d say a few weeks”. With the busy winter schedule, Spurs could be without Gareth Bale for a number of games. The North London side have six matches between now and January 17th, including a Carabao Cup semi-final and the FA Cup third-round tie against non-league Marine.
In terms of updates on other injuries, Mourinho expressed he also has his doubts that Lucas and Vinicius can be fit for Fulham.
Gareth Bale Injury Struggles
The Welshman returned to the club on a season-long loan in the summer. The deal is said to be worth around £13million, however it is believed that Real Madrid are still contributing towards his wages. At 31-years-old with a long history of injuries, he has been unable to rekindle any of his previous form. He has been a ghost of the man who left Spurs in 2013.
He failed to feature for Spurs until late October, after arriving at the club with a knee injury. Even when fit, he has struggled to get back into the side. He has three goals in 11 appearances for Tottenham this season, only one of which has come in the Premier League.
A Blip in Form for Tottenham
Since the win over Arsenal, Spurs have only managed two points from a possible 12 in the league and suffered back-to-back defeats to Liverpool and Leicester City. On Wednesday night they face an in-form Fulham side who have lost just once in their last six games. After rotating the side at Molineux, when Spurs return home this week they will expect Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier to come back in to the side. However, they will still have a few missing with their growing injury list. Plus, without Bale, they may struggle with rotating and keeping their forward line fresh.
