Morecambe have been forced to postpone their next two League Two games, against Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City, due to an outbreak of COVID-19 in their squad.

Morecambe’s Next Game Will Be Against Chelsea
The League Two side have been forced to postpone their next two fixtures and it means that the club’s next game will come against Chelsea on the 10th January in the FA Cup.
The EFL are set to rearrange both fixtures but as of yet, there are no new dates for either game.
The reason the games have been put on hold comes down to the fact that the club claim that both first-team squad members and coaching staff are currently needing to self isolate in line with the Government’s guidelines on COVID-19 and it ultimately means that the club cannot fulfil their fixtures.
Morecambe Battling in the League Two Play-Off Places
Morecambe are currently in fifth place in League Two and are battling for promotion back into the third tier of English football.
They’ve won their last four games and are just four points off the top of the table and three off the automatic promotion places. Therefore, the club’s postponement of their next two games will certainly come as a blow to the squad and its fans due to the fact they’ve been on such a good run of form.
Cambridge United or Exeter City Could Overtake Shrimps
Their last game was a 3-1 win over Grimsby Town on Boxing Day and it means that they can go into the new year firmly in the play-off places. However, all this depends on how the teams around them play while their games are postponed.
When the club next play a League Two game, they might find themselves out of the top six. Exeter City and Cambridge United are only three points behind Morecambe and could certainly overtake them while both of the games are not being played.
