Real Madrid‘s plans for the future very much involve Croatian midfielder Luka Modric.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Los Blancos have ‘positive feelings’ in their efforts to extend the 35-year-old’s stay.
Luka Modric in Positive Talks to Extend Real Madrid Stay
Modric Remains Part of Real Madrid’s Plans
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder attracted the attention of global powerhouse Real Madrid back in 2012 and has been a midfield mainstay for the La Liga giants ever since.
Modric’s efforts in the Premier League were never going to go unnoticed and he quickly transformed into being one of the first names on the teamsheet among the very best players in world football.
Over eight years on, Modric has made Santiago Bernabeu his home. The Croatian has made 363 appearances and held countless honours.
The 2018 World Cup finalist is showing no signs of tiring, despite having turned 35 in September.
Fabrizio Romano’s report claims there are ‘positive feelings’ surrounding an extension for Modric, who remains a part of Real Madrid’s plans for the future. Whilst that is the case, he does stress that no agreement has been signed just yet.
Real Madrid Looking to Extend and Continued Regular Action for Modric
In 2020/21, Modric has started a large portion of Real Madrid’s games – both in La Liga and the Champions League. He continues to add to his goalscoring tally – now at 25 for the club – having scored one of his three goals this campaign against Barcelona in El Clasico.
Modric remains very much involved on international duty with Croatia too. He is clearly maintaining a high level and that is of course why Real are pushing to extend his stay.
Sergio Ramos Situation Unresolved
Club captain Sergio Ramos remains yet to tie down his future at the Bernabeu and Fabrizio Romano adds that the situation is still ongoing.
Ramos, 34, like Modric, is showing little signs of decline and would be an important renewal for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
