Carlisle United head coach Chris Beech has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2022. Beech joined the Cumbrians in November 2019 when they were just five points above the relegation zone in League Two. He eased the relegation worries last season and currently has United sitting third in the table. Beech’s assistant, Gav Skelton, has also agreed an extension to his current deal.

Beech Delighted to Extend Stay
The work done by Chris Beech and his backroom team in just over a year in charge has been admirable. Carlisle were struggling under former boss Steven Pressley and their situation could have been a lot worse were it not for the terrible form of both Macclesfield Town and Stevenage.
Now, United are one of the main contenders for promotion to League One, a league they haven’t competed in since 2014. They are currently third and lie just two points behind both Newport County and Forest Green Rovers are the top.
Speaking to the club website, Beech said: “I’ve always said I’m very honoured to be head coach of this football club. It’s gone really well since the day I walked in and I’m very proud of that fact.
“I’m pleased that the club has seen the work that’s been done and that they’re looking to support it, and I’m very thankful of everybody that they’ve committed to that.
“Like I’ve said before, thank you to the chairman and Carlisle United for giving me the opportunity to be their number one, or however you want to describe the role.”
Defender Leaves on Loan
Carlisle have also confirmed that defender Max Hunt has joined National League side Yeovil Town on a 28-day loan. The 21-year-old joined the club in January from Derby County and has so far made nine appearances, the last of which was in the Papa John’s Trophy against Aston Villa U21.
