Leeds United will make a decision on whether to loan out youngster Sam Greenwood in January, according to Mike McGrath of The Daily Telegraph.

Impressive Form for the U23’s

Greenwood joined Leeds in the summer as part of the restructuring of their U23’s set up and has enjoyed a successful start to his career in Yorkshire.

The 18-year-0ld has scored six goals in seven appearances so far this season, showing how quickly he has settled.

As a result of his form, Greenwood may be rewarded with a loan move away from Elland Road in January. According to the report, he is attracting attention from several Championship clubs.

However, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa rates the youngster highly and may look to keep around the squad in case of injuries during the second half of the season.

Speaking about the 18-year-old and team-mate Joe Gelhardt recently, Bielsa said: “Gelhardt is a player who when he is close to the box he is very dangerous and Greenwood is a player who has a lot of capacity to arrive into the free spaces.

“They can play with either Gelhardt in front and Greenwood in behind or the other way around.”

Would a Loan Suit Greenwood? Or Should He Stay and Bide His Time?

If the opportunity arises for the young striker, Greenwood should look to take it and move out on loan.

While Bielsa clearly rates him highly,  an opportunity in the first-team is unlikely to come at this current moment in time for the 18-year-old. Patrick Bamford is in fine form, having scored nine goals in 13 appearances so far this season. Bielsa also has club-record signing Rodrigo to call upon.

As a result, a move to a Championship club may benefit the youngster, and offer the chance for him to prove himself at a much higher level.
