Sheffield Wednesday manager Tony Pulis has confirmed the club are in contract discussions with three of their key players. Pulis confirmed the club have offered new deals to captain Barry Bannan, as well as Adam Reach and Tom Lees.

All three have been regulars since Tony Pulis took over in November. Bannan is the beating heart of the team and Wednesday are desperate to keep him. Reach has been a regular for several seasons and possess real quality when on form. Lees has battled with injuries during his time at Hillsborough but finally, he is slowly finding his form again.

Pulis confirmed the news in his press conference this morning ahead of Wednesday’s crucial derby clash with Barnsley. Pulis is yet to win as manager of the Owls.

Bannan a Mainstay in the Sheffield Wednesday Team

All three have been excellent servants for the Wednesday and understandably, the club are desperate to keep them. The Owls are fighting to survive in the Championship having started this season with a six-point deduction.

Bannan and Reach have been fixtures in the Wednesday side this season. Bannan has started every game for the Owls, leading the team through their biggest season in recent history. He contributes so much to the team in more ways than one. Bannan has two goals and one assist so far this season but his leadership is undeniably his biggest asset to the team. They will be desperate to tie him down with several Championship sides interested in the club captain.

Importance to the Team

Reach, like Bannan, has been an ever-present this season for the Owls. Reach has featured in all 17 games, starting 13 of those. He the man who wins a game for Sheffield Wednesday due to the quality he has. He has a dangerous left foot but, by his standards, probably hasn’t contributed as much as he would have liked. He has provided just the one goal, which came in a draw with Swansea City.

Lees has been a loyal servant for Wednesday since joining from Leeds United in 2014. He has gone on to make over 200 appearances for the club. However, injuries have hampered his time with the club but he may be recapturing his best form under Pulis. Lees has made 11 appearances this season featuring in every game under Wednesday’s new manager.

All three are key members of the squad so its understandable Wednesday are desperate to keep them. They will be vital in Wednesday’s chances of escaping the Championship relegation zone.
