While Chelsea put in a very positive performance at home to Leeds United, there is one element of bad news from that victory: an injury to new star signing Hakim Ziyech.
In the 27th minute, during the same play where Chelsea scored their first goal, the Moroccan felt something in his hamstring and immediately had to walk off. He did not return to the pitch, going straight down the tunnel.

Brilliant Start to Chelsea Career
Ever since Ziyech made the switch from Ajax to London, he has been in inspiring form. Barring a mediocre display against Tottenham Hotspur, the 27-year-old has done well in every single game he has played.
He marked his first Premier League start with an impressive goal against Burnley, as well as two brilliant assists against Sheffield United. His wizardry on the ball is incredible, and he always seems to pick out impossible passes. Although they don’t always come off, when they do, he can create a chance out of absolutely nothing.
Within a few matches, he had already established himself as Chelsea’s clear first-choice on the right wing, and he looked set to continue his bright form well into the new year.
However, hamstring injuries can be tricky, and he will likely be out for two weeks at the very least, which would be a huge blow to Chelsea. Anything over a month, though, and Chelsea’s title aspirations could hang in the balance.
Not His First Injury
While he has been in good form as of late, he wasn’t given the chance to have an instant impact, as he was unavailable for the first few weeks of the season. Having settled in at the club earlier than most of the other signings, Ziyech took part in a preseason friendly against Brighton & Hove Albion.
During that match, he already impressed with a brilliant through ball to set up Timo Werner‘s opening goal, but then he injured himself halfway through. At first, it appeared to be a very minor injury, but Ziyech ended up missing almost two months of action.
If this injury is anything like that, he, as well as Chelsea, will suffer. For a player so eager to announce himself to his new fans, it would be very harsh on the Moroccan if he had to face yet another spell on the sidelines.
Hopefully for Ziyech’s and Chelsea’s sake, the injury is nothing serious, and he can get back to tearing defenses to shreds, as he has been doing so far.
