Manchester United Complete Facundo Pellistri Signing

Facundo Pellistri

Manchester United have made their third transfer signing of deadline day with the addition of Facundo Pellistri from Uruguayan side Peñarol.

The fee for the teenager is set to be around €10 million and the young winger had his medical in his hometown of Montevideo. Pellistri’s agent took to Instagram to share a photo of the young United transfer target undergoing his medical.

The 18-year old is highly regarded in South America and former United forward Diego Forlan is a huge fan and was the manager to give him his senior debut.

One for the Future

“Pellistri has huge potential. There is still a lot to work on,” Forlan told Joga Bonito.

“He is growing and he makes the difference. We know it will be difficult to keep him for a long time. He has great pace and that is hard to handle.”

Scouts from the Old Trafford side are said to have spent over a year looking at the teenager and felt it was the right time to purchase, with Chelsea, Juventus and Manchester City all said to be interested parties.

Having made 37 senior appearances for Peñarol, the young forward has put pen to paper on a five-year contract with a loan option.

Pellistri is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow countryman, Edinson Cavani, who the Red Devils announced earlier this evening.

Right-Wing Failure

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was after a right-sided winger all transfer window with Jadon Sancho their primary target. They will have to settle for the 18-year old in a position that is sorely lacking in Solksjaer’s side.

United’s efforts to sign a winger ended after failing to agree on deals for Sancho and Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele earlier today.
