Following last season’s loan move to Besiktas, Loris Karius is reportedly set for another loan move away from Liverpool. According to James Pearce of The Athletic, the German goalkeeper is set to complete a season-long loan move to Bundesliga club Union Berlin.
The move will signal a return to familiar surroundings for Karius in his homeland of Germany. Perhaps a return to familiarities will also signal a return to form for the Liverpool man who has endured a dismal few years in between the sticks.

While on loan at Besiktas, Loris Karius never really found the consistency needed to persuade the on watching Liverpool staff into giving him another chance in Merseyside. The lack of consistency, alongside disputes with Besiktas over unpaid wages, put an end to any rumours of a permanent move to Turkey.
And so Union Berlin reportedly beckons for the 27-year-old as does the opportunity to gain respect between the sticks once more. Union Berlin have endured somewhat of an underdog story themselves over the years, and look likely to become the next chapter in Karius’ own underdog like narrative which is yet to be completed.
Can Union Berlin Get the best Out of Loris Karius?
Perhaps the reported move to Berlin will finally ensure a return to Karius’ best form last seen before the nightmare in Kyiv against Real Madrid.
And, it has to be said, if Union Berlin can get the best out of Loris Karius, they’ll have themselves a quality shot-stopper. Eradicating his error-prone nature may prove difficult, but, if given the suitable environment, Karius could complete a career revival in Germany and in the league where it all began for the 27-year-old.
A move which reportedly begins as a season-long loan could lead to a permanent switch for Karius to put an end to his Liverpool nightmare.
