REPORT: Antonio Conte May Quit Inter Milan

Antonio Conte has said he does not know if he will stay on as Inter Milan manager beyond the end of this season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The former Chelsea boss cast doubt over his future following Inter’s Europa League final defeat to Spanish club Sevilla. That result means the Italian side’s wait for a first trophy since 2011 goes on.

Inter Chiefs to Meet Next Week

On the face of it, Inter’s hierarchy will surely want Conte to remain in charge. The 51-year-old led his side to second in the Serie A table this season. The Nerazzurri finished only a point behind champions Juventus.

After falling narrowly short in the league, Inter also came agonizingly close to ending their nine-year wait for major silverware by securing success in Europe.

Conte’s side dropped from their Champions League group into the Europa League, and made it all the way to the final of the competition.

However, Europa League specialists Sevilla overcame the Italians 3-2 in a gripping final staged in Germany, and Conte revealed his future doubts immediately after the fixture.

“We’re going to meet next week with the club and we’ll decide about my future,” said the ex-Italy manager after the final whistle.

“I’m not sure that I’ll be the Inter manager next season; we’ll decide together. Inter will plan the future with or without me,” Conte added.

Sevilla Get Their Trophy Back

Inter and Conte’s pain is Sevilla’s joy after an unforgettable European final in Cologne.

The Spanish outfit came from behind to win a record sixth Europa League trophy. Julen Lopetegui’s side mapped their way to the final by overcoming Premier League teams Wolves and Manchester United in previous rounds.

Victory over Inter gave former Spain and Real Madrid boss Lopetegui the first piece of silverware in his managerial career.

“This is a magnificent club”, said the Sevilla manager. “I hope all the fans can celebrate [the trophy] but with caution.

“This squad are great. They believe in it, what they work on and what they transmit. Even if we hadn’t won I’d still love these guys, but today we take home the prize. We always believed.”
