Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp may have won the Premier League for the first time in 30 years, but he is not resting on his laurels. Instead, he will look to fund a move for Thiago Alcantara of Bayern Munich, with Liverpool officially beginning talks over a potential move, according to Bild’s Christian Falk and Fabrizio Romano.

Thiago Currently in Champions League Battle
While there are lots of discussion regarding his future, Thiago will certainly have his focus on the Champions League quarter-finals with Bayern, where he is set to face his former club Barcelona in an epic showdown.
He will be starting in a midfield pair with Leon Goretzka, whose energy and dynamism gives him the freedom to control the tempo of the play and start attacks with his excellent vision and passing range.
The Spaniard would likely have been an even better fit at the Camp Nou, but he has settled in nicely at the Bavarian giants, and now his task is to foil the club he once called home.
It will not be an easy game by any means, but Thiago and Bayern will back themselves to progress to the semi-finals, especially given Robert Lewandowski’s impeccable form. If he does win the Champions League, then he will have fulfilled what he could not do at Barcelona, and what former manager Pep Guardiola could not do at Bayern.
From One Superteam to Another?
Liverpool and Bayern are certainly among the top five in the world, and could even be the best two at the moment, in no particular order. While Thiago could be ending the season as a European champion, the appeal of playing in the Premier League is too difficult to resist for many players.
Klopp will not be making significant signings, but the midfield certainly could use some improvement. Anfield is filled with hard-working, durable midfielders, and the team has lacked a creative midfielder like Thiago ever since Philippe Coutinho moved to Barcelona.
They have relied on their attack, as well as their full-backs (who can barely be called defenders at this point due to their attacking output) for assists this season, not their midfielders. But with Thiago, that could soon change, as he has the skill to unlock defences with ease.
Liverpool want him badly, and the feeling seems to be mutual. All that remains to be seen is if the clubs can agree on a fee, which is certainly possible with Bayern’s depth in every position putting them in a good spot for next season either way.
If all goes right, Thiago could well be in England lacing his boots for the Reds as they look to defend their Premier League crown, as well as make inroads in the Champions League once again.
