After guiding Brighton & Hove Albion to safety in his first season in charge, Graham Potter has turned his attention towards forming a side capable of reaching the comforts of mid-table. So far, in that pursuit, Potter has welcomed Adam Lallana, Lars Dendoncker and Joël Veltman. Now, in perhaps the biggest deal yet, Brighton have joined the race for £30 million Celtic forward Odsonne Édouard.
According to The Times, they have joined several Premier League clubs in pursuit of the Frenchman’s signature this summer.

Bigger Moves Could Attract the Frenchman
Odsonne Édouard is arguably the best striker in the Scottish Premiership right now; the 22-year-old is as talented as they come and is destined to play on the biggest of stages. However, that is a stage Brighton may not be able to offer. The Frenchman, fresh from a hat-trick against Hamilton, will be keen to ensure a move away also comes with Champions League football.
With Celtic consistently qualifying for that competition, too, moving away to a team in Brighton’s position would not make sense. Yes, Premier League football is an attractive offer, but the Frenchman has the talents to shine for a team in the big six should he wish to leave Celtic this summer.
A Bargain Deal?
In today’s market, the chances of overpaying for a player is higher than ever. A 10 goal a season forward can sell for £25 million; a young, unproven forward can even secure a £15 million move. It’s when considering this that Celtic’s reported £30 million valuation of Édouard becomes a bargain deal.
All of a sudden, for £30 million, a team can secure the services of a 30 goal a season forward who has experience in the Champions League; there won’t be a better offer out there if reports are to be believed.
