REPORT: Chelsea Hoping to Agree £80 Million Kai Havertz Deal After Europa League Culmination

Chelsea Havertz

Following an exit from the Champions League, Chelsea’s 2019/20 season has finally reached its end, giving Frank Lampard full focus on further summer reinforcements. Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have already been secured. However, the Blues are still looking to complete what will be a deadly attacking force next season. The man hoping to complete that attacking force, of course, is Kai Havertz.

Chelsea Hoping to Agree on a Deal for Kai Havertz

Deal to Be Completed Soon

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea will look to agree on an £80 million deal once Bayer Leverkusen’s Europa League campaign is complete. With personal terms already agreed in a five-year deal, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi of BFMTV, it may not be long before Havertz is signing the contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Earliest Chelsea Could Sign Havertz

After knocking Rangers out of the Europa League with ease last week, Bayer Leverkusen will now compete in the shortened version of the tournament in Germany. The rest of the games, starting with the quarter-finals, will only include one set of 90 minutes. Each game will be pivotal, making the trophy anyone’s to win.

This puts Bayer Leverkusen in a strong position. If they manage to earn a result against a tough Inter Milan side, they will be just two games away from what would be a famous trophy lift.

Should they fail to beat Inter Milan, however, then their Europa League campaign will be over. As a result, it could mean Chelsea could complete a swift deal for Havertz.

If reports from Romano are anything to go by, if Leverkusen go out to Inter on Monday evening, a deal would possibly be agreed as early as this week.

Alternatively, if Leverkusen go as far as the final itself, then Chelsea will have to wait until at least the 21st of this month to form an agreement. The Bayer Leverkusen director confirmed recently that no agreement will be made below the asking price or before Leverkusen’s complete their Europa League campaign.

The Potential Fee

After reports came to light of Chelsea’s willingness to pay £80 million, Jan Aage Fjortoft has today reported that Chelsea have offered £60 million for Kai Havertz. He also when onto say, however, that Leverkusen want up to £100 million for the German this summer. The £60 million offer could well be one to simply test the waters from Chelsea, who will likely be forced to meet Leverkusen in the middle with an £80 million deal to secure his services summer.
