After seven years at the club, Willian is reportedly edging closer than ever to a Chelsea exit. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian has rejected the latest contract offer from Chelsea to extend his contract until June 2022. Romano also reported interest from Arsenal, claiming that the Gunners have initiated talks with his representatives over a potential move.

Arsenal: The Perfect Destination for Willian
With Willian reportedly settled in London, Arsenal may well prove to be the perfect candidates for his signature. Financially, with Willian becoming a free agent at his contract’s end, the Gunners should have no problem sealing a deal. When it comes to game time, too, Willian would be an invaluable member of a young and inexperienced Arsenal squad; the 31-year-old could play a pivotal part in the development of players such as Bukayo Saka.
The Brazilian will want more than just a position of guidance, however. After 20 goal involvements in the season just gone, he has more than proven his capabilities to potential on looking suitors. His post lockdown form, in particular, could have convinced Mikel Arteta to take Willian to the Emirates this summer in a bargain deal.
Other Options
Willian’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, stated interest of up to five clubs last week with two of those being Premier League clubs, two European and one MLS team. Fabrizio Romano has reported, though, that Barcelona are not one of the clubs in a position to pursue the Chelsea winger. He stated that a bid is yet to be made from the former La Liga champions.
As it stands, Willian’s last game in a Chelsea shirt will be against Bayern Munich in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash, a tie Chelsea are currently 3-0 down in on aggregate after a dismal first leg performance.
