Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper called for his side to improve their attitude following a defeat to Luton Town on Saturday.
Swansea City Boss Steve Cooper Slams Swans for Poor Attitude
Cooper: ‘We’ve Only Got Ourselves to Blame’
The Swans were beaten 1-0 by the basement club and Cooper criticised his players’ “attitude” as he warned it could cost them a place in the play-offs.
Defeat leaves the Swans 10th in the table, four points behind the top six sides.
And Cooper appealed for a resolution from his players as they go in search of a playoff position.
“We’ve only got ourselves to blame, that’s for sure. Poor result, poor performance,” Cooper said afterwards. “I didn’t like our attitude.”
The defeat was City’s first since a loss at Fulham in February; however, Cooper’s side have won only two of their eight previous Championship outings.
After a 3-0 victory against the struggling Middlesbrough upon their return to competitive football; the form of Swansea City has dipped and, add with their poor attitude, it could see them miss out on a playoff spot.
“It will because points are so important at this stage of the season,” Cooper said.
“We don’t want to be relying on other teams – we want to be taking care of business ourselves.
“There was a real opportunity to win the game and kick on into what will be a hectic period.
“To not do that is really disappointing, but we’ve only got ourselves to blame.”
Luton made the trip to Wales bottom of the table and five points adrift of safety, but the hosts failed to threaten with any of their 11 shots and 63 per cent possession.
Swansea were off the pace for most of the match and fell behind to James Collins’ headed effort.
Things turned from bad to worse when substitute Jordan Garrick was sent off with 18 minutes left.
