Tanguy Ndombele’s future at Tottenham Hotspur has been questioned for some time now. The club’s record signing has not settled well in North London and question have constantly been asked about his commitment and his fitness to make his mark in the Premier League.
Tanguy Ndombele’s Future is in North London
Debut Scorer Struggles
Ndombele scored on his debut for Spurs against Aston Villa but ever since has struggled to progress. At £54.5 million pounds and a six-year contract, a lot of faith was being put in the 23-year-old, signed from Lyon. A strong player who also goes missing at times. Question marks existed at Lyon over that consistency and little has changed in his first season at Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho Says There Is ‘No Truth’ in Fall Out Rumours
Speaking with football.london following the 2-0 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League, Jose Mourinho was quick to rebuff any suggestions of a rift with Ndombele.
“No [there is no truth in that]. On the bench was Tanguy, Sessegnon, Toby, Vertonghen, Gedson and they didn’t play. That’s football. For me there’s nothing,” he said.
Jose Mourinho showed his commitment to working hard with the player when he, ill-advised, met with Ndombele outside his home.
Tanguy Ndombele and Jose Mourinho Must Remain Patient
Tottenham’s midfield has a lot of demand for playing time. Moussa Sissoko is seen as integral to the Spurs midfield along with Harry Winks. Mourinho has high hopes for Oliver Skipp and also sees Ryan Sessegnon’s short term career being on the left side of the midfield.
If Ndombele is to cement a place in the first eleven he will need to displace Sissoko or Winks and that will need patience on his part. Jose Mourinho also needs to show patience as the player adapts to life in the English elite. Spurs also need to show patience as they can not afford to lose money if they did decide to dispense with his services after just one year.
Tanguy Ndombele’s Future Can Be Successful at Spurs
With so many games coming quickly during the return to action after lockdown, Tanguy Ndombele will surely get minutes. He needs to take his chance when it comes along and Mourinho must make sure he puts his confidence in the player to get the best out of him.
