League One champions Coventry City have become the latest side to issue their released and retained list. Former Manchester City youth player Jordy Hiwula is among eight players that have been let go by the Sky Blues at the end of a victorious campaign. The majority of the squad has been retained, while just one player is currently in discussion over a new deal.
Jordy Hiwula Among Eight Released By Coventry City
Players Released
Hiwula is arguably the most high-profile exit at Coventry. However, his time at the club has hardly been a rousing success, scoring 17 times in 61 games across his two seasons.
Defender Junior Brown also leaves the Sky Blues having made just 23 appearances since his arrival in 2013. He spent this campaign on loan at League Two side Scunthorpe United, playing 20 times.
Winger Reise Allasani leaves the club too but will stay with the Sky Blues until his rehabilitation from injury is complete.
Joining the aforementioned trio in leaving the club are Charlie Wakefield, Callum Maycock, Dexter Walters, Bouwe Bosma and Jak Hickman.
Options Exercised
Three Coventry City players have had options exercised in their contracts, meaning they will be kept on for the club’s return to the Championship next season.
Amadou Bakayoko, who scored five times this season, will be remaining with the club along with Zain Westbrooke. He scored four times and recorded two assists. Jordan Young joins them in staying on.
In addition, Tom Billson is currently in negotiation with the club over extending his stay.
