Hard Work Earns a Deal

After stepping up to the Premier League with the Blades, it was expected that McGoldrick would be one of those to struggle. In terms of goals, he has, with a goal ruled out by VAR against Tottenham Hotspur the closest he has come to netting a top-flight goal.

However, he has been widely praised for his work ethic up front, along with the majority of this Sheffield United team who are still in with a shout of securing a Champions League spot this season.

At Championship level, though, McGoldrick was a more potent force in front of goal, netting 15 times in 45 games as the Blades sealed promotion just behind Norwich City. He also scored in his first appearance for the club, a friendly against Inter Milan.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club website about his new deal, McGoldrick said: “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be spending the next two years, so I’m over the moon to sign this extension and remain a part of this fantastic journey the club is on.

“As everyone has seen, this is a club that rewards and ties down those players that have contributed heavily to the success it’s enjoyed so I’m delighted the gaffer sees me in the same bracket as Billy, Ollie and before that Enda and Flecky. I’d like to thank the gaffer and the board for getting this sorted so quickly and smoothly.”
