REPORT: Juventus Target Arkadiusz Milik

Juventus could make a bid for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik this summer, according to Nicola Balice at Italian news provider Calciomercato.

The hierarchy at the Old Lady seem eager to sign a striker this summer, and Polish international Milik has emerged as their more recent target.

Gonzalo Higuain‘s replacement?

Milik appears to be a target for Juventus as the future of regular striker Gonzalo Higuain remains uncertain. The Argentine striker reportedly had offers from Qatar and the USA recently and remains in Argentina during the coronavirus pandemic.

Reports suggest that the positive relationship between Juve boss Maurizio Sarri and Malik could prove to be decisive in bringing the striker to the Allianz Stadium next season.

Milik’s contract situation could also facilitate a move. His contract expires next summer and it’s unlikely Napoli will allow him to leave on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old excellent form for Napoli this season raised interest from Juventus. The Polish striker scored 12 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions.

Milik a Good Fit

Former Juventus general manager, Luciano Moggi, spoke out recently about Milik’s potential move to the club. He also compared the Polish striker to alternative target, Mauro Icardi.

Speaking to Italian TV channel Canale 21, Moggi said: “I don’t know what will happen, but when I hear about Mauro Icardi I have to rule him out.

“If right now Gonzalo Higuain willingly sits on the bench because Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo play, imagine Icardi.

“With the system Juve use, he would never play and he’d always be a second choice to Dybala and Ronaldo, two players who shoot and score a lot.

“Icardi, in short, would never see the ball. He’s very good in the box, but he needs a team game.

“He would be much more suitable for Napoli. It’s been said he could go to Milan, but I don’t know about that.

“Milik is more suited to Juventus, who need a presence in the box. On the other hand, he could suffer due to the presence of Ronaldo and Dybala, who like to come inside, because Juventus won’t change their midfield and a front three isn’t sustainable.”
