Manchester United are looking into defenders, with the hope of signing someone world-class in the summer.
The Red Devils signed Harry Maguire in the summer for a record £80 million. Although it took some time to settle in, he has not failed to disappoint. The Englishman is a commanding influence in the defence, making the backline far more stable this season than it has been since the legendary partnership of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. In the summer, they will search for a first-class defender to partner him. Victor Lindelof is not up to that quality, and Eric Bailly is too injury prone.
As a result, they are exploring their options. Samuel Umtiti is certainly one. They have been linked with the Frenchman for some time, and it seems that they are stepping up their interest in him once again. Barcelona are looking to fund a move which would see former player Neymar return to the Camp Nou, having sold him to Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record fee in 2017. This would be very costly. However, they would be willing to offload Umtiti in order to get the deal across the line.
Koulibaly is the other option who United seem to be very interested in. The Senegalese centre-back is widely viewed as one of the world’s best. With his passing and tackling ability, one can see why. He would be a fantastic addition to Manchester United’s side and a perfect partner for Maguire.

The Red Devils recently made the decision that they were ready to fork out the cash for Koulibaly, as per the report. It says that they are ready to spend approximately €90 million in the summer to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams, and are determined to make this deal happen.
