Manchester United are ready to make a shock move for Alexander Sorloth, according to Turkish journal Fanatik.

Manchester United to Make Shock Move for Alexander Sorloth

Who is Alexander Sorloth?

Alexander Sorloth joined Crystal Palace for £9 million in January 2018, having shown great promise for Danish side FC Midtjylland. The Norwegian striker came with the expectation that he would continue his fantastic goal-scoring form in England, but that did not happen.

From January 2018 to the end of the season, Sorloth earned just four appearances and failed to score or assist in any of these. After he failed to score in 12 more Premier League games the following season, Palace loaned him out to KAA Gent of Belgium’s Juliper Pro League just a year after he signed in London.

Although he was in a weaker league, Sorloth still struggled to score, with just five goals from 22 matches in all competitions for the Belgian outfit.

After returning from loan looking certain to be a failed signing, Turkish side Trabzonspor approached Palace looking to take the Norwegian out on loan.

Since his Easterly move, Sorloth has been one fire. The 24-year-old has scored 19 goals from 26 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig this season, making him the league’s top scorer.

Interest from Real Madrid

Real Madrid are interested in signing a striker this summer. Sorloth is seemingly high up on their wishlist, something which he could not have dreamed when he was struggling for Crystal Palace.

Norway teammate Erling Haaland is their top priority, but he is only available in 2021, and Real would love to see both Norwegian prospects developing at their club.

Manchester United Also Want Him

Manchester United, who have sent scouts to watch Sorloth for some time, would also like to sign the 24-year-old.

They are looking for a striker in the summer, with Anthony Martial potentially leaving, and Sorloth would be an option to replace him.

Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would certainly be a big selling point for the Red Devils, not to mention their rich history and promising squad.
