Kane Wants to Win Trophies

In a January 2018 interview, Kane said, when asked about what Tottenham could do to keep him, “we want to start winning trophies, that’s the aim”. Since that time, Spurs have, once again, failed to win any silverware. They are currently eighth in the Premier League, and out of all club competitions for the season. With yet another trophy-less season gone, Kane will feel that he could win competitions elsewhere. Step in United, City and Juve, who are currently battling it out for the Englishman’s signature.

United, City and Juve Interested

While Kane has always been on every top team’s radar, these three teams have emerged as frontrunners to sign him. They each feel that they can offer him better than Tottenham have, and are willing to pay big money to get him.

Manchester United are currently undergoing a rebuild which, in the hopes of their board, will see them challenging for the league title in 2022. Furthermore, if this season does continue, they can still win both the Europa League and FA Cup, which would attract Kane. Despite this, the English striker might not fit particularly with the Red Devils’ fast, counter-attacking style of play.

On the other side of the city, the Sky Blues have had much success in the way of silverware over the past decade. They have won the league four times, the most of any team in the 2010s, and were in the Champions League for all but one of their last ten campaigns. They would also offer Kane a good chance at a trophy. However, with Sergio Aguero still a firm favorite at Manchester City, he may not get the consistent game time he wants.

Juventus, who believe that they can pip the two Manchester sides to Tottenham’s star striker, have the best historical record with silverware. They have won all of the last eight Serie A seasons and were on course to continue that run before its suspension. They have reached the Champions League final twice in the last six years, and have won four Copa Italias in the same timeframe.

The Serie A champions are prepared to pay around £181m on Kane, and with them being more trophy-laden than the Manchester sides, they could pip Manchester United and Manchester City to Kane’s signature.
