Serhou Guirassy Secures Amiens Deserved Draw Plus Ligue 1 Predictions

Serhou Guirassy

Another pulsating round of Ligue 1 matches has come to an end, with plenty of talking points and exciting action. Paris Saint-Germain were held by Amiens in a terrific game where Serhou Guirassy was the hero, Marseille stretched their unbeaten run to 15 games after beating Lille while there were crucial wins for Brest, Monaco, Nice, Nimes and Reims.

Serhou Guirassy Rescues Deserved Point For Amiens

Amiens Hold PSG

Struggling Amiens and runaway leaders PSG played out a pulsating 4-4 draw. It was the strugglers who enjoyed an outstanding first-half, going three goals ahead, but they soon found themselves behind when PSG came back. However, Amiens found another gear and striker Serhou Guirassy scored a stoppage-time equaliser.

Amiens enjoyed an excellent first half and really caused a much-changed PSG plenty of problems. It was Guirassy who opened the scoring before Gael Kakuta and Fousseni Diabate added a further two goals to give Amiens a three-goal cushion. However, the games turning point arrived in first-half stoppage time when Ander Herrera pulled one back.

PSG soon cranked up the pressure, with young defender Nianzou Kouassi scoring a brace of headers from set-pieces to level the contest. Mauro Icardi then put the leaders in front for the first time but their winning streak came to end thanks to Guirassy, who completed his brace in stoppage time to earn the strugglers a deserved point.

Amiens remain in the relegation, zone five points adrift of Dijon in the play-off place and a further point behind Nimes in 17th. PSG remain top of Ligue 1, but their lead has been cut to ten points after Marseille’s win over Lille.

Saint Etienne Slump to Eighth Defeat in Nine League Games

Saint Etienne’s miserable run of form continued as they lost to Brest in a battle of two sides looking to avoid being sucked into the relegation battle. Les Verts found themselves three goals down at half time in another disappointing afternoon for Claude Puel and his team.

Brest were terrific and fully deserved their win as they ease their relegation fears. Goals from Paul Lasne, Gaetan Charbonnier and Irvin Cardona had Brest three goals ahead and comfortable. The visitors did muster a response in the second half thanks to goals from Dennis Bouanga and Lois Diony, but it wasn’t enough to prevent an eighth defeat in nine games for Saint Etienne.

Brest remain 13th but, significantly, pull seven points clear of the relegation zone. Saint Etienne remain 16th but they are in deep trouble after that costly defeat with just two points separating themselves and the relegation zone. The pressure is mounting on Claude Puel, who only took over in October.
