Bolton Wanderers Sign Jacob Mellis
The Deal
Bolton announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Mellis arrives on a free transfer signing a contract until the end of the season.
Mellis is an experienced player beginning his career at Chelsea. He has seen played for Barnsley and Mansfield Town.
With over 200 appearances in the Football League to his name, the midfielder has spent most of his footballing career so far in the Sky Bet Championship at Barnsley and Blackpool.
Mellis is ready to help Bolton accumulate as many points as possible as the Trotters look to finish the season on a high. His arrival continues Keith Hill’s transformation of the Bolton team.
Mellis is an experienced campaigner and was integral last season as Mansfield reached the play-off semi-finals. However, the arrival of Graham Coughlan as manager as seen his playing time limited and ultimately told he can leave Field Mill.
He is a creative player but also has an industrious side and that could be crucial for Bolton. The Trotters have missed Liam Bridcutt since he returned to Nottingham Forest. Mellis is versatile and can play anywhere in the midfield areas. He will make the step to League One once again after several years in League Two.
The midfielder is playing for his future with a short term deal signed. He will hope to have a long term future at Bolton should his spell be a success.
He is not eligible for tomorrow’s game against Tranmere Rovers but will be available for the Coventry game on the 8th of February.
