Accrington Stanley have signed midfielder Bobby Grant. Grant arrives on loan from non-league Wrexham until the end of the season. He will be Stanley’s first January signing.
Accrington Stanley Sign Bobby Grant
The Deal
Accrington announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Grant returns to his boyhood club on loan for the remainder of the season.
The midfielder returns to where his career began. He has since had spells at Scunthorpe United, Rochdale, Blackpool, Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town and most recently Wrexham.
The midfielder has a wealth of experience; he is a creative spark Accrington is hoping to exploit to secure their status in League One. He has been productive for non-league Wrexham scoring seven goals this season as they battle relegation in the National League.
Grant reunites with John Coleman and Jimmy Bell at Accrington and he still remains their second youngest EFL debutant. His return to the club is Stanley’s first signing of the transfer window.
Grant will not be involved in tomorrow’s game against AFC Wimbledon. A key clash between two of League One’s strugglers. Both are hovering dangerously above the bottom three. His second debut for the club will come against his former club Shrewsbury in mid-February.
John Coleman Praises Hard-Working Grant
Speaking to the Accrington website about Grant’s return, manager John Coleman said: “We know what Bobby is all about, we know what we are getting with him and we know he will work his socks off for us to help us win games and keep us in League One.”
“He knows how me and Jimmy (Bell) operate and he will be prepared to run through brick walls for us.”
