Sheffield United Sign Striker Richairo Zivkovic on Loan
The Deal
Sheffield United announced via their website they had signed the striker. Zivkovic arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Blades have the option to buy him should his loan be a success. Zivkovic’s arrival will fill the void left by Callum Robinson, who joined West Bromwich Albion on loan earlier in the window.
The 23-year-old began his career at Eredivisie side FC Groningen, where he scored ten goals in 33 games. He moved to Ajax but made a handful of appearances for the Dutch giants.
Zivkovic was loaned out to FC Utrecht and Willem II before sealing a permanent transfer to Belgian side KV Oostende. He scored 12 times in 58 appearances for the club before his move to China.
His record is excellent in China, with the Dutch international scoring 16 goals in 25 games. Chris Wilder believes he can handle Premier League football and score a few goals along the way.
The Striker Brings Pace, Goals and Versatility
Sheffield United’s newest recruit will certainly hope to make an impact. Zivkovic can play in all the forward areas but in the club’s system, he will spearhead the attack.
The forward brings pace and goals to an already good Blades attack. They have lacked a consistent goalscoring centre forward. Despite the fact Lys Mousset and Oli McBurnie have chipped in, neither has scored more than five league goals.
Zivkovic will have to work hard to earn his place in the team but he is certainly different from what the Blades already have.
