League One strugglers Tranmere Rovers have signed striker James Vaughan on loan from Bradford City for the rest of the season. The striker arrives as Tranmere’s fourth signing of the January window.
Tranmere Sign Striker James Vaughan On Loan
The Deal
Tranmere announced via their website they had signed the striker. The experienced James Vaughan arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.
The striker is tasked with firing the goals to keep Tranmere in League One. Micky Mellon’s team are six points adrift of safety and desperately need to ignite their season.
Vaughan only joined Bradford City in the summer and has scored ten league goals for the Bantams. However, the opportunity to move up a level is clearly hard to resist.
Tranmere are in need of a consistent goal scorer and they hope James Vaughan will the man to deliver for the rest of the season.
Bradford are looking to revamp their attack with their form slowly starting to dip.
Tranmere’s game against Sunderland this evening has come too soon for Vaughan to play but he is expected to make his debut against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday
What Was Said
Speaking to the Tranmere website about his move, Vaughan said “I’m really happy to be here, so to finally get it done, I’m looking forward to getting started.
“There’s some good characters here that I’ve played with before, some big characters. But I’m experienced and hopefully, my experience will help the team and get the results we need towards the end of the season.”
“Everyone wants to play at the highest league they can. I enjoyed League One the last time so I’m hoping I can have the same success again.”
Vaughan added: “He (Micky Mellon) didn’t have to convince me, I knew what it is about, and I knew what was needed. I’m just looking forward to getting going and helping the team out.
“I hope to bring a few goals to the team, along with that a bit of success for us.”
