What Was Said
Speaking to the official Sheffield Wednesday website, Hidalgo said: “I have always liked English football, I think it is the best football in the world.
“England has the best leagues, the best pitches and players, the best structures, everything.
“This is a big step for me but I feel very prepared and very happy to be here.
“I like to dribble with the ball and play freely the Argentinian way.
“I know I need to take some steps towards the first team. I played for the first team in Italy and I know it’s not the same here.
“I want to play first for the U23s but my main goal is to play for the first team.”
Every Chance to Break into the First Team at Sheffield Wednesday
The 20-year-old says that he will initially start in the U23 team at Hillsborough, but he has every chance to break into the first team under Garry Monk’s tenure.
Despite not making an appearance this season, Hidalgo did feature 19 times for Triestina last season, learning the life of first-team football.
Current Wednesday manager Monk has not been afraid to give youth a chance. He gave Osaze Urhoghide is debut in the FA Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion. Meanwhile, fellow youngsters Alex Hunt and Ben Hughes have also featured on the bench.
As a result, the Argentinian will be hoping that he can follow in their footsteps.
Sheffield Wednesday currently sit sixth in the Championship, occupying the last play-off place on goal difference ahead of Swansea City.
After a 2-0 win against rivals Leeds United, they return to Hillsborough in their next game to face mid-table side Blackburn Rovers.
