Breakthrough Season
The 17-year-old made his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle earlier this season; since then he has made 11 appearances in total for Chris Beech’s side.
As a result, he is highly regarded by his former side and impressed despite them being 21st in League Two.
When speaking to the Carlisle United website, Director of football David Holdsworth: “I think everybody knows how highly we rated Jarrad, and that’s exactly why we moved quickly to offer him a new and improved three-year contract before Christmas, just eight months after he’d signed his first-ever professional deal.
“Ideally this fantastic young man would still be our player, but I think everyone will appreciate and understand that it can become very difficult for the individual when clubs at the highest level – some of the biggest clubs in the country – come calling and showing an interest in your services.
“It is an excellent deal for Carlisle United in terms of the financial aspects, both now and in the future, and Everton are getting a young man who we think will make a big impact.
Meanwhile, Branthwaite spoke to the official Everton website on arrival. He said: “The pathway is superb – and that’s what made me want to join Everton.
“I just can’t wait to get started. Everton is a big club and I’m buzzing to be here.
“I want to settle in, get to know all the boys and put in some good performances for the Under-23s.”
It is Everton’s under-23 side who he will play for, however, the youngster has set his goals higher.
“My long-term goal, 100 per cent, is to play for Everton first team in front of the great crowds at Goodison. That would be my dream.”
