According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Manchester City are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.
REPORT: Adama Traore’s Impressive Performances Attracts Manchester City Interest
Excellent Season so Far
After a slow start to life at Molineux, Adama Traore has now firmly established himself as a first-team regular.
Last season the 23-year-old made just eight starts for Wolves in the Premier League last season. He scored just one goal across the entire campaign.
However, he has become a popular figure in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season. Traore has registered five goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for Wolves this season, helping them into the knockout stages of the Europa League and to seventh in the Premier League.
As a result, he has been catching the attention of clubs higher up the Premier League table. Manchester City are keeping a close eye on the Spaniard’s progress.
Adding to Their Already Healthy Squad Competition
Pep Guardiola is already well-stocked with wingers for his Manchester City side.
The City boss opts for a 4-3-3 for his side, with Raheem Sterling taking up spot, meaning the other has been alternated between Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva this season.
Sterling has transformed his game under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. The 25-year-old has already scored 20 goals so far this season, firmly cementing his place in the first-team.
However, Mahrez and Bernardo Silva have also impressed this season. The formed has ten goals to his name so far this season; meanwhile Silva has registered six goals and seven assists.
As a result, Traore would be joining a squad filled with depth already, and would have to bide his time for a regular starting spot.
Alternatively, a move for the Spaniard could depend on whether Leroy Sane remains with the club. Bayern Munich are maintaining their interest in Sane, despite the German currently being out injured.
