Hakim Ziyech Linked With January Move to Tottenham Hotspur
The Moroccan midfielder is nimble and full of attacking intent. With Christian Eriksen edging ever closer to the exit door, Ziyech would be a ready-made replacement. It was his performances in last seasons Champions League against Real Madrid and Juventus that really caught the eye. Ironically it was Tottenham who ended his and Ajax’s dreams in the semi-final with Lucas Moura’s hat trick.
Ajax Loyalty
As stars left Ajax around him, Ziyech was unmoved and signed a new deal with the Eredivisie side. It is that contract that could cause Spurs a stumbling block. There is a buy out clause of around £26 million and Tottenham’s chairman, Daniel Levy may baulk at parting with that amount of money. But, on the other hand, the appointment of Jose Mourinho has hinted at how the chairman may wish to invest a little more to see some success.

In 2019/20, Hakim Ziyech already has 8 goals and 21 assists. He completes 90% of all passes. He averages 2.3 passes per game in the Dutch league and has two goals already in this seasons Champions League.
It is obvious why Ajax are reluctant to allow the talented player to leave but if they can get around £30 million for the midfield maestro, they are willing to listen to offers.
Player Plus Cash
A possible way around the financial cost for Tottenham could be to offer Jan Vertonghen as part of the deal to take Hakim Ziyech to Tottenham. Ajax want Vertonghen back and with his form stuttering with Spurs, Tottenham would do well out of a deal now rather than losing the Belgian for nothing in the summer.
