Released by Swindon Town
Diagouraga was told by boss Richie Wellens that he could find a new club last summer.
His search has finally come to an end with the 32-year-old moving to Morecambe.
Diagouraga made just one appearance this season, featuring in the EFL Trophy.
The experienced midfielder has made nearly 500 career appearances across 11 clubs, including Brentford, Leeds United, Peterborough and Watford.
Diagouraga, a well-recognised name in the League, began at Paris Saint-Germain before joining Watford’s academy.
Loan spells away from the Hornets at Swindon Town, Rotherham United and Hereford United followed before he signed permanently with the latter in July 2008.
Diagouraga made Brentford his home for six years, starting with a loan spell in January 2010, where he made over 200 appearances.
The defender spent a brief loan spell at Portsmouth in February and March 2014 but returned to help the Bees to get promoted to the Championship.
32-year-old Diagouraga rejoins Shrimps boss Derek Adams having played for him at Plymouth Argyle during 2017-18.
Adams became Morecambe boss in November 2019.
The Shrimps are currently 23rd in League Two, one point clear of basement side Stevenage.
Diagouraga joins on a short-term contract until the end of the season.
Speaking about his new signing, boss Adams said: “Toumani was with me at Plymouth Argyle and did ever so well for me when he was there. He came into the midfield and used the ball well.
“He has got good experience at the level and it was only a couple of years ago that he was Brentford’s player of the year and he will be a good addition to the squad.”
Morecambe are next in action at home to Colchester United on Saturday 11 January 2020.
