Transfer Rumours: Wilfried Zaha, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Memphis Depay and More
Chelsea Targeting Wilfried Zaha and Jadon Sancho
Adam Powers of Express writes that Chelsea have lined up two targets to bolster their wing options; Jadon Sancho of Dortmund and Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace. With Willian and Pedro both out of contract in the summer, Chelsea could only have Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic as their first-team wingers next season. Zaha is a long-term target of Chelsea, and almost left Selhurst Park for Everton over the summer. Sancho’s position at Dortmund has grown ever more tenuous, after a fallout with Lucien Favre. Chelsea could make either player their first new signing after their transfer ban is uplifted.
Madrid Ready to Offer Rodriguez for Aubameyang
According to Sam Meade of the Daily Star (via El Desmarque), Real Madrid are readying a player-plus-cash offer for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The £70 million offer could include out-of-favour midfielder James Rodriguez as a sweetener in the deal. The Gunners would be loathe to letting their star striker leave, but without Champions League football their stance is significantly weakened. Any move hinges on whether the Gabon striker signs a new contract at the Emirates.
Premier League Giants to Battle for Depay
Two of the Premier League’s traditional ‘top six’ are reportedly ready to battle for the signature of Memphis Depay; according to Luke Gardener of Express, Liverpool and Tottenham are both strong admirers of the Dutch attacker. Depay has previously endured a torrid spell in England with Manchester United, but looks a changed player for Lyon. He has already scored 11 goals and provided one assist for the French side this season. However, could Depay be able to displace one of Liverpool’s current attacking trio? This could be a deciding factor in which club comes out on top.
City to Plug Defensive Hole
There is no doubt that Manchester City’s defence has been their Achilles Heel in the title race this season. With Aymeric Laporte out injured and no replacement for Vincent Kompany in the summer, options are thin at the back. Now, as Jonathan Northcroft (The Times) reports, Pep Guardiola wants to sign Caglar Soyuncu to bolster his options. The Leicester City defender fits the bill for Guardiola; he’s good on the ball, with a rugged demeanour off it. However, the Foxes, currently high flying in the Premier League, will not want to derail their own potential title bid. Therefore, it would take a substantial bid to tempt them into selling their Turkish talisman.
